[size=45]The Minister of Industry and Minerals, Mr. Manhal Aziz Al-Khabbaz, met today, Tuesday, in his official office at the Ministry’s headquarters, the Spanish Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Pedro Martinez, to discuss strengthening industrial cooperation relations and partnership opportunities available to establish new and promising projects that serve both sides, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Planning, Engineer Youssef Muhammad Jassim.[/size]
[size=45]At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister affirmed the ministry's orientation towards opening up to European countries and entering into real partnership and investment agreements with them, including Spain, in order to seek and benefit from its experiences and expertise in upgrading the Iraqi industrial sector, pointing out that the Ministry of Industry had previous cooperation with Spain and that it looked forward to activating and increasing cooperation and work. What is common with Spanish companies, especially since Spain is one of the developed countries in the field of technology and information, and it is possible to take advantage of these capabilities to contribute to achieving an industrial renaissance and economic gains for both countries.[/size]
[size=45]The meeting included a discussion of a number of common topics, including the partnership contract concluded with the Spanish company Sociedad for the development of the cement industry, where the Minister stressed the need to activate the work of the Spanish company, as it is one of the advanced companies in the field of manufacturing types of cement and to provide the necessary support from the Spanish side and direct it to expedite work and discuss the issue of amounts owed to the Ministry and deposited with a Spanish company, according to the letter of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the Minister expressed the Ministry’s readiness to resolve this issue and end the financial relations between Iraq and the Spanish company. Cooperation in a number of industrial fields, including the manufacture of medicines, fertilizers, petrochemicals, and agricultural pesticides, and in the field of warning and firefighting systems, research and development, and training by benefiting from the sumsDeposited with the Spanish company under the memorandum of understanding concluded between Iraq and Spain, which contributes to strengthening mutual relations and transferring modern technology to serve the interests of both parties.[/size]
