Zebari blames a "fatwa" of the Federal Court for the failure to elect a president for Iraq
Shafaq News/ The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Hoshyar Zebari, on Saturday, blamed the Federal Supreme Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq) for the failure to elect a new president of the country due to its fatwa obligating two-thirds of the parliament members to attend the session devoted to voting on this position.
Zebari said in a tweet on "Twitter", "The events of today's quorum session proved that the fatwa or decision of the Federal Court guarantees the two-thirds ratio for electing the President of the Republic, contrary to the provisions of the constitution about the quorum of the sessions of the House of Representatives."
And he added, "The people will suffer from the formation of the government for a long time after the losing parties were able to control the winning majority."
