    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

On Tuesday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee called on the Iraqi government to send files related to the ration card and food security, while stressing the need to delete a paragraph from the Security and Development Law, and to establish a sovereign fund.

The Media Department of the House of Representatives stated in a statement that the Finance Committee, headed by Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, and the presence of its members today, are the Ministers of Finance Ali Allawi and Trade, Alaa Al-Jubouri, Minister of State for Parliament Affairs Hiyam Neamat, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Director General of the Budget Department, Taif Sami, and the Director General of Accounts in the Ministry. Sahar Hadi, to discuss the merits of the Emergency Support Law, Food Security and Development and the necessary amendments thereto.
During the discussion, the Chairman and members of the Finance Committee demanded that the files related to the ration card items and food security entitlements be sent in official letters to the Finance Committee in the Council.
According to the statement, the interventions of the members of the Finance Committee focused on revealing the final accounts and spending and revenue ratios, in addition to the importance of maximizing non-oil revenues and their obligations, as well as knowing the reasons for internal and external borrowing and how to disburse funds and pay debts, fees and taxes.
The deputies stressed the need to establish a sovereign fund for the state to address emergency situations, and to delete the article related to borrowing in light of the financial abundance contained in the draft emergency support and food security bill that was discussed during the hosting, and to make observations on its articles, and how to distribute the necessary allocations for projects.
Yesterday, Monday, the Iraqi parliament decided, during its regular session, to host the Minister of Finance, Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, and the Minister of Commerce, Alaa Al-Jubouri, today, Tuesday, to discuss and discuss the emergency support law for food security and development.
During the session, a number of deputies demanded, according to a statement issued by the media department of the council, which was received by Shafaq News Agency, to "reconsider some articles of the draft law and define it as food and health security only," while they made "remarks on the internal and external borrowing paragraph and restricting the law to a time limit." .
The statement added that other deputies called on the government to "accelerate sending the general budget law for the year 2022, instead of the emergency food support bill or postpone its legislation," in addition to a number of deputies expressing their objection to the project for "violating constitutional articles."
