Iraqi Electricity attributes the increase in processing hours to two reasons and promises a "better" summer
Shafaq News/ Today, Monday, the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity attributed the reason for the increase in electric power hours during the current days to "the increase in the supplied gas and the moderation of temperatures", confirming at the same time that sufficient funds were allocated to ensure a different summer from last year.
The Ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Al-Abadi, told Shafaq News Agency, "The improvement in the hours of supplying electric power comes as a result of great efforts and plans that resulted in introducing new generation capacities, relieving bottlenecks and strengthening distribution networks," noting that "the most prominent reasons for the increase in equipment are the moderation of the season's heat, which helped in a way. He continued, "The combined cycle does not need gas, is environmentally friendly and supplies new energy," stressing his ministry's determination to "introduce cooling systems in the stations to relieve the loads of obstetric units in the summer, reduce the boiler heat and give additional energies, and all of that needs money."
Al-Abadi stressed that "allocating sufficient funds for the summer plan will ensure a better and different summer from last year's."
The capital, Baghdad, and other governorates are witnessing a remarkable improvement in the supply of electric power, whose operating hours range from 23 to 24 hours.
It is noteworthy that Iraq has been suffering from a shortage of electric power since the beginning of the year 1990, and the hours of rationing of electricity increased after 2003 in Baghdad and the provinces, due to the aging of many stations in addition to the sabotage operations that have been exposed to the facilities during the past five years, as the hours of electricity cuts for citizens increased to About twenty hours per day, which increased the people's dependence on small power generators.
