[size=45]The Border Ports Authority reported opening all crossings with neighboring countries under the control of the federal authorities to facilitate the entry of foodstuffs.[/size]
[size=45]"The Border Ports Authority is committed to implementing government decisions regarding the entry of foodstuffs into Iraq," said Alaa El-Din Al-Qaisi, a spokesman for the authority, in a radio interview followed by Al-Mada.[/size]
[size=45]Al-Qaisi added, "Our tasks are to monitor, supervise and implement what is issued by the competent authorities, and it is not one of our tasks to prevent."[/size]
[size=45]This comes in conjunction with the issuance of decisions by the Council of Ministers to open the door for imports for three months in order to enter all foodstuffs to avoid the issue of high prices.[/size]
[size=45]The spokesman for the General Secretariat, Haider Majid, said in a press conference that "the Iraqi government has taken several decisions, some of which have been implemented on the ground to confront the food crisis."[/size]
