The Iraqi parliament extends its first legislative term and sets the date of sessions and the agenda

Shafaq News/ The Presidency of the House of Representatives decided, on Sunday, to extend the legislative term for a period of one month, and to determine the date and agenda of parliamentary sessions.

In a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, the Council's media department stated that Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, his first deputy, Hakim al-Zamili, and second deputy, Shakhwan Abdullah, held a meeting to discuss the most important issues related to the work and holding of Council sessions during the coming period.

And it indicated that the Presidency of Parliament decided to extend the first legislative term for the first legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle, for one month; In order to complete a number of legislations, tasks and constitutional entitlements.

The presidency has set the holding of the council’s sessions this week on Wednesday and Thursday, and the agenda will include the first reading of the law criminalizing normalization with the Zionist entity, the vote on the emergency support law for food security and development, as well as the completion of the formation of parliamentary committees.
