Federalism is not equal between citizens..Kurdish political prisoners threaten to sue the regional government

Today, Saturday, a number of political prisoners in Sulaymaniyah demanded justice, like the rest of the prisoners in the center and south, threatening to file a lawsuit.
"We demand the return of the files of political prisoners to the federal government, the dimensions of this file from the conflicts between the center and the region, and the non-politicization of the file," said Imad Kouyi, representative of political prisoners in Sulaymaniyah, during a press conference held in the office of the Iraqi parliament in Sulaymaniyah.
He added, "The Kurdish representatives in the Iraqi parliament must pressure the federal government to guarantee and restore our rights guaranteed to us by the Iraqi constitution in accordance with Article 132 of the Iraqi constitution."
He continued, "We demand the return of the grants that were deducted from us during the last period, our equality with our brothers in the center and the south, the extension of the grant to 25 years, as it is in the rest of the Iraqi regions, and the amendment of our monthly grants as in the rest of the Iraqi regions."
He stressed that "in the event of failure to respond to our demands, we will file a lawsuit against the territorial government, as it is the one who has approved its commitment to our rights, and we also demand the monitoring and follow-up committees in the Council of Ministers of the Regional Government to follow up and investigate the file of political prisoners and announce the results of the investigation to public opinion and not allow any party tampering with our rights.
The demands concluded with “the call of the joint president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, to change all the representatives of the Patriotic Union in the institution of political prisoners, as they are unelected elements at a time when all parties have changed their representatives more than twice.”
turn; The representative of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Muthanna Amin, explained in the press conference; “What political prisoners suffer in Kurdistan is a result of the conflict and disagreement between the center and the region.”
And he indicated that "the regional government pledged to pay the dues of this segment at a time when the 17% was approved as an annual share of the federal budget for the region, but due to the financial crisis that the region experienced, the grants allocated to them were reduced."
Muthanna Amin said that "according to the Iraqi constitution, all citizens are equal in rights and duties, but we find that there is a great disparity between one citizen and another, and this must be borne by the federal government and the regional government.
