Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – On Saturday, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted a complaint to the United Nations Security Council, and requested an emergency session on what it described as the "Turkish attack" on Dohuk governorate, which resulted in civilian casualties on Wednesday.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said on its official Facebook page, quoting its spokesperson: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs files a complaint to the UN Security Council, and requests that an emergency session be held on the Turkish attack, which resulted in a number of safe civilians being martyred and wounded in Dohuk governorate."

Artillery shelling targeted a tourist resort in the Zakho area in Dohuk governorate, killing and wounding civilians on Wednesday.
For its part, the Turkish Foreign Ministry denied Ankara's responsibility for the attack, accusing "terrorist organizations" of carrying it out.
