    On Saturday, September 24, 2022, Minister of Electricity Adel Karim discussed with the US Ambassador to Iraq Alina Romanowsky the importance of electrical interconnection projects and other files in the energy and electrical interconnection sector.

    A statement by the Ministry of Electricity stated, "The Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, received the US ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, and they discussed the importance of electrical interconnection projects and the extent of their strategy for the national grid."

    The statement added, "The ministry has gone in several directions with the Gulf, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Jordan, and Turkey, in this regard."

    The minister explained, according to the statement, saying: "The great renaissance that we have worked on to introduce a large number of projects, stations and carrier lines, which have been out of order for a long time, and which contributed to a clear stability of the national system."

    As the minister reviewed, according to the statement, “the ministry continues to work on diversifying energy sources and contracting with international companies to set up solar power plant projects, which the ministry has been keen to distribute in most of Iraq’s governorates. It also pays great attention to wind projects for energy production, as well as generating electricity from waste recycling in coordination with departments Municipality, municipality and local government.

    The minister referred to the "plan prepared for the installation of combined cycle units, and the establishment of new steam stations that will be a backup load center for the system."

    For her part, the ambassador expressed, "it keeps pace with care and interest in the development of the electricity sector in Iraq, and that it urges sober companies to work in Iraq as it is a good and suitable environment for work, especially the electricity sector."
