    The Central Bank of Iraq confirmed, on Wednesday, that its teams are conducting desk and on-site audits on projects that have been granted loans as part of its initiatives, while clarifying its procedures regarding fictitious projects.
    The media center of the Central Bank stated, to the official news agency, that “with regard to project loans within the Central Bank’s initiatives, teams from the bank are conducting an office and on-site audit on projects that have been granted loans within the initiatives, to ensure the actual existence of these projects on the one hand, and that the amount of financing goes for the purpose for which it was granted.” for it on the other hand.
    He added, "In the event that fake projects are found or did not achieve the purpose of financing, the amount is withdrawn from the account of the owner of the funded project and a fine and interest are collected," noting that "these cases are few and almost negligible due to continuous scrutiny and follow-up."
