Banking sources confirmed, on Thursday, the continued decline in the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, after the measures taken by the Central Bank to counter its rise during the past days.
The sources told "Al-Eqtisad News" that "more than 14 private banks decided to sell the dollar at a price of 1470 dinars to travelers for the purpose of tourism and treatment, by allocating an amount of 5 thousand dollars."
She added, "The Central Bank also decided to increase the weekly cash share for some banks to become $1.8 million, which must be sold to travelers."
The sources pointed out that "the Central Bank of Iraq has taken a new mechanism to confront the high prices, which will contribute to reducing them in the coming days," noting that "the new mechanism is to encourage merchants to use documentary credits, especially since the transfer price has become lower than the official price."
