Today, Saturday, the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced a move with the executive side to create an anti-drug agency linked to the prime minister.

Committee member, Representative Hussein Al-Amiri, said, "Drugs and cybercrime are dangerous and deadly weapons that have greatly affected Iraqi society," stressing that "the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee continues to hold meetings regarding the amendment of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017."

Al-Amiri added, "The committee also continues to hold meetings with the executive side to create an anti-drug agency linked to the prime minister, which includes the best officers and employees specialized in this field, for the purpose of the success of its work."

He stressed that "the committee is closely following up with the border guards and the areas adjacent to the neighboring countries, which smuggle and push weapons into Iraq."

He pointed out that "the members of the committee show high interest in this file, as it is one of the priorities of the committee's work," promising to "achieve achievements in the fifth parliamentary session."
