    [rtl]Baghdad - Iraq today:

    The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, discussed, on Tuesday, with the White House Coordinator for Security Affairs for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, and his team, a number of political issues.   

    Barzani's office said in a statement, "Masoud Barzani received a high-ranking American delegation in Salah al-Din," noting that the team consisted of "White House Coordinator for Security Affairs for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk, and the Presidential Special Coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security Amos Hawkestino, and the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanovsky, and a number of advisers to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    The meeting discussed, according to the statement, “the political situation in Iraq and the relations between the Kurdistan region and Baghdad, and stressed the need to solve problems between the Kurdistan region and Baghdad, and the importance of the role of Iraq and the Kurdistan region in overcoming energy challenges.

    The situation in the Kurdistan region was another topic for the meeting, and Barzani stressed, "the need to hold fair and impartial elections in the Kurdistan region this year, and he will not accept any excuse to postpone the elections," according to the statement.[/rtl]
