The source said in a statement to Al-Maalouma that "two Czech and Portuguese investment companies refused to invest in the phosphate plant in Al-Qaim district, west of Anbar, due to the request of some Anbar deputies and others in the former central government for sums of money from the two companies amounting to 100 million dollars, which prompted them to withdraw.” And the cancellation of all procedures taken by the two companies in connection with the completion of the contract.
The source added that "the two companies were intending to rebuild and rehabilitate the existing phosphate plant with a sum of money of about $2 billion," noting that "politicians from Anbar and influential people in previous governments thwarted a plan to rebuild, rehabilitate and operate All government factories that were suspended for more than 20 years, but these efforts did not It bears fruit on any tangible results as a result of influential people requesting sums of money from foreign companies to obtain investment opportunities.
Stressing that "the investment reality in Anbar province is at its worst due to the lack of consistent and fair visions in attracting investment companies to revive the investment reality in conjunction with the desire of an international company to obtain investment opportunities to work in all cities of Anbar.”
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Industry concluded a contract nearly three years ago with two Portuguese and Czech companies for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Al-Qaim Phosphate Factory, west of Anbar. End / 12A
