Crude oil prices rose at the end of trading today, Tuesday, to continue the sharp gains achieved in the previous session due to the risks of supply disruptions from the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and hopes to contain the banking sector crisis, according to Reuters.
Brent crude futures rose 53 cents, or 0.7 percent, to settle at $78.65 a barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate crude rose 39 cents, or 0.5 percent, to settle at $73.20 a barrel.
On Monday, prices rose more than three dollars after Iraq was forced to stop exporting about 450,000 barrels per day from the northern Kurdistan region of the country via Turkey, after an arbitration decision confirmed that Baghdad's approval was required to ship oil.
