Reconstruction promises a breakthrough in housing in Baghdad in the coming months

The Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, Benkin Rikani, said that the coming months will witness a new movement in the housing file in the capital, Baghdad.
Rikani said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "there are several housing projects that will open, whether in the new cities or on the outskirts of Baghdad," noting that "there is no accurate statistics regarding housing in Iraq, and that the last statistics prepared by the Ministry of Planning was in the year 2009, In addition, the role numbering process stopped after 2003.
The minister added that his ministry "is trying to revive a program for numbering, just as the census, if conducted next October, will give a clear picture of the number of housing units in Iraq," noting that "Iraq's annual need for housing units is approximately 250,000 units according to the equation of dividing the average family by The annual increase in the population, which is approximately one million and 250 thousand people.
And Rikani continued by saying: "We named one of the new cities in the Abu Ghraib district, 'Al-Jawahiri', to be added to the cities of Ali Al-Wardi in Al-Nahrawan, Al-Mutanabbi in Wasit Governorate, Al-Siyab in Basra Governorate, and Al-Janaen in Babil Governorate."
