He explained, "It is likely that the decline that occurred last March was a result of Iraq's purchase of large quantities of gold, in addition to the noticeable decline in Iraqi oil sales and its negative repercussions on the total volume of Iraqi cash reserves, and this could be one of the reasons that led to the decline in possession of gold."
