    Baghdad today - Diyala
    Today, Thursday (July 27, 2023), a government official announced the fate of what he called the “City of Dreams” in Diyala Governorate.
    The District Commissioner of Baqubah, Abdullah al-Hayali, told “Baghdad Today” that: “The government committee concerned with locating a city of 10,000 dunums in Diyala has completed all its requirements, and a comprehensive report will be submitted to the Council of Ministers next week, pending its instructions.”
    He added, "(The City of Dreams) is a project adopted by the government of Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani in Diyala, and the same in the rest of the provinces. It will be built by Baghdad directly, according to an integrated project , and not the distribution of plots of land.”
    Al-Hayali said, "Determining the site came after field visits to more than 10 sites, before agreeing to determine the best. It is in the outskirts of Muqdadiya district (40 km northeast of Baquba) near the main road between Baquba and Khanaqin, that is, heading towards the Kurdistan region.”
    He pointed out, "The launch of the project will lead to a decline in the fever of rents, lands and houses, because it represents the construction of the largest city in eastern Iraq as a whole in terms of area and number of units."
