The President of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Sheikh Hammam Hamoudi, received the Australian Ambassador to Baghdad, Paula Ganley, and they discussed political developments and prospects for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
A statement by the council received by Al-Hayat Al-Akhbaria said that during the meeting, Hamoudi stressed that Iraq had succeeded in imposing its will and overcoming many of its crises, and today it is living in the most stable, powerful, and accomplished era, pointing out that the government has the support of all national forces, and it has It succeeded in gaining the confidence of the citizen through ambitious service and development projects that can be seen in all Iraqi cities.
He added, the importance of local elections in changing those who have indicators of corruption or failure with sincere competencies, in a way that enhances government achievement in the provinces, noting Iraq's keenness on its national unity and building external relations on the basis of common interests and mutual respect.
While Mrs. Ganley expressed her country's keenness to cooperate and invest in the sectors of health, transportation and education, Sheikh Hamoudi pointed out the possibility of benefiting from Australians of Iraqi origin in representing Australian companies in Iraq.
