    {Local: Al-Furat News} Today, Thursday, the Communications and Media Commission issued a statement about the independence of the Commission in its decisions.
    Its statement, a copy of which {Al-Furat News} received, stated, “The Media and Communications Commission received the interpretive decision issued by the Federal Supreme Court No. 233/Federal/2023 dated 10/10/2023, which came based on a request for constitutional interpretation submitted by the Minister of Communications, and in this regard it would like to We have made the following points:
    1- The Authority declares full compliance with all judicial decisions issued by the competent courts and expresses its welcome of all important and legal texts that detail the powers and powers assigned to the Authority or the Ministry of Communications.
    2- The explanatory decision of the Federal Supreme Court came in confirmation of what was made clear by the court’s decisions in previous times, most notably Resolution (34/Federal/2019), which explicitly stated that the Media and Communications Commission, like other independent bodies mentioned in the Iraqi Constitution, is an independent federal body financially and administratively. It must carry out its duties and exercise its powers stipulated in Legislative Order No. 65 of 2004 in force in a comprehensive and professional manner.
    3- The explanatory decision of the Federal Supreme Court on 10/10/2023 confirmed the decision of the Federal Supreme Court No. 34/Federal/2019, which specified the responsibility of the government entity to formulate public policy without interfering with the jurisdiction of independent bodies that operate in accordance with their own laws, which is the matter to which it committed itself.     4- The Authority adheres to all its constitutional and legal powers in terms of regulation, licensing, monitoring and follow-up of all affairs of the communications and information technology sector and the management and organization of the frequency spectrum in a manner that recognizes the value and scarcity of this resource, and the quality of services provided to citizens, in accordance with its effective law and the decisions issued by the Federal Supreme Court and the General Budget Law. Federal for the years 2023 - 2025, and in line with the general policies of the state contained in the ministerial curriculum and the representation of the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Iraq in the relevant forums, including the International Telecommunication Union, in order to regulate broadcasting policies.
    The Communications and Media Commission reassured “the public and private sectors and all investors and workers in the sector that the Commission continues to perform its duties by caring for the rights of users, operators and workers in accordance with the principles of objectivity, transparency, neutrality and non-discrimination.”

    She called for "adherence to the explanatory decision and working as a single team in an atmosphere of cooperation and integration required to develop the sector and achieve the state's goals in this field, avoiding confusing the sector and taking unilateral decisions contrary to what was stated in the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court referred to above."
    The Commission renewed its call to the Iraqi Council of Representatives to expedite the legislation of relevant laws to limit any circumstances or negative impacts on this important and vital sector in general.
