The Iraqi Parliamentary Al-Basas Coalition called, today, Saturday, on Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to intervene and make “fundamental” amendments to the salary scale of employees and workers, indicating that his request to amend the law extends to those with contracts and daily workers who are suffering due to difficult living conditions.
The representative of the Iraqi Al-Basas Coalition, Hussein Habib, said in a press conference held in the parliament building with the participation of a number of coalition representatives, that “in light of the difficult economic conditions that have their effects on our people and the increase in gaps and large disparities in salaries and wages, we - members of the Iraqi Al-Basas Coalition - call on the government The federal government calls for fundamental legal amendments to the scale of salaries and wages of employees and workers.
He added, "The amendments that we are talking about and defending their implementation require ensuring equality in salaries between employees in various government institutions in a way that ensures fairness to those with the lowest grades, not to mention the importance of the amendment currently in light of the difficult economic conditions and the high prices of food and services."
The parliamentary bloc stressed that “the amendment should not be limited only to employees and workers, but rather it must include those with contracts and daily wages who suffer greatly due to difficult living conditions and the inadequacy of their already small salaries, and others who receive small sums of money that do not meet the growing needs, and some of which are less than the limit.” The lowest wages in the country.
