    The former representative of Nineveh Governorate, Muhammad Al-Shabki, explained that there is an economic dimension that lies in the attempt of the Democratic Party to impose control over the Makhmour region and send its forces there to dominate the oil file and seize its wealth.


    Al-Shabki told Al-Maalouma, “The Makhmour region, located between the triangle between Kirkuk, Mosul and Erbil, is considered by the Kurdistan Democratic Party to be an area of ​​strategic importance as it controls the administrative borders of the Kirkuk and Mosul governorates.”
    He added, "The area that witnessed the military conflict between the army and the Peshmerga is an oil-rich area and is linked to northern Kirkuk and southeastern Mosul, as the aforementioned party seeks to control this place in addition to its connection to the oil-rich Qayyarah region."
    He stated, "There is an economic strategic importance that lies in the Barzani party's attempt to control the Makhmour region with the aim of obtaining the oil resources present in the region, which is what made this party move towards the region in the hope of seizing control of it." Ended 25 n
