    Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Ministry of Agriculture announced the details of its projects with international organizations, and while it referred to the electronic card project for farms in the Holy Governorate of Karbala, it confirmed the development of plans in coordination with those international organizations to develop the agricultural sector.
    Undersecretary of the Ministry, Mahdi Sahar Al-Jubouri, said that one of the fundamentals of the ministry’s work is openness to international organizations, coordination and cooperation with them in the field of agricultural scientific research and also in the field of services and other areas of cooperation, indicating that there is coordination with a number of organizations such as the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the Arab Center for Studies Dry areas and arid lands (ACSAD), as well as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Organization for Epizootics, and other organizations.
    He added that working with these organizations also included their involvement in qualifying and developing cadres, in addition to implementing many projects, including the project to improve animal health services and disease monitoring in Iraq in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in addition to supporting the development and implementation of strategies related to food and agriculture priorities and measures. rural areas across the country, and support the project to enhance agricultural livelihoods in rural areas and rural and peri-urban communities.
    He continued, that in Nineveh Governorate, the activities of the project on the adaptation of rural families in southern Iraq were supported after water scarcity resulting from climate change and addressing the relationships between food, energy and the environment, which was funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Trade and Development in Canada, and we also had a visit by a team of experts from the Food and Agriculture Organization. To the United Nations for the purpose of providing advisory support to control foot-and-mouth diseases. In addition, there is cooperation with the World Food Program in implementing the electronic card project for farmers and agricultural investors in the Holy Governorate of Karbala, as well as cooperation with the United Nations Water Program and the World Bank’s additional financing project for the emergency development project in Iraq.
    He stated that the Ministry, through this coordination with international organizations, was keen on scientific and technical communication of various specializations through national, regional and international cooperation by investing in the opportunities available to develop the activities of the agricultural sector through the transfer and consolidation of technology, indicating that we are currently focusing on climate change and the situation of water scarcity through... Reducing use and focusing on water user associations in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources and also the Japanese organization JICA.
    He stressed that this coordination has yielded great results in the agricultural sector’s adaptation to climate change and water scarcity, explaining that the Ministry has plans to ensure greater coordination, especially since Iraq is an active member in many international institutions and organizations and therefore requires that there be Iraqi expertise along with expertise. The existing institutions and international organizations reflect positively on the reality of the agricultural sector.
