    The Department of Retirement and Social Security for Workers in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs confirmed, on Monday, the intention to include all workers in Iraq, including contracts and employees, with the guarantee. While it clarified the privileges for those included, it confirmed the imposition of fines against employers who refuse to register workers according to the law.
    Director General of the Department, Kholoud Hiran, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Eqtisad News, that “the coverage of workers will expand and include all workers in Iraq, and all contracts and daily workers will be considered covered by social security.”
    She added, "Social Security provides those covered by its provisions with retirement salaries, as well as health insurance, compensation for work-related injuries, and opportunities available to every worker that enables him to be included in Social Security to guarantee his rights and have equal rights with state employees."
    She continued, "There will be late fines on employers who do not pay their workers' rights, and they and their projects will be referred to the competent courts if they delay in covering their workers with insurance or obstruct the work of the inspection committees in the event of lack of cooperation."
    Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced yesterday, Sunday, that the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers had entered into force, while revealing the numbers of applicants and their minimum salaries.
    The Prime Minister said in a speech during his visit to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, followed by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the law entered into force and the number of insured workers so far has reached 19,000, and this is a small number compared to the number of workers.”
    He pointed out that "the salary of the insured workers will be 500 thousand dinars as their minimum," explaining that "there are electronic procedures that will be taken to pay the contributions of the insured workers."
