    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Thursday (December 14, 2023), the head of the Azm Alliance, Muthanna Al-Samarrai, confirmed that the local elections are no less important than the parliamentary ones, as they are closest to the citizen, calling for the  necessity of conscious participation in the elections.
Al-Samarrai said in a speech on the occasion of the approaching date of the local elections, which was followed by "Baghdad Today", that "national responsibility requires all of us to stand united for the benefit of the nation and the citizen and for our effective participation in the local elections."
He added, "Our mission today is to test what is best for managing local governments in our regions," indicating that the Azm Alliance provided the best women and men to be representatives of the people of their communities.
Al-Samarrai continued: “We have great confidence in our candidates to achieve the aspirations of the people of their regions for a better life,” stressing that “we must ignore the slander campaigns pursued by some parties, so our decision from the first day of forming the Al-Azm Alliance was not to be drawn into provocative statements, but rather we focused on supporting our candidates for the elections.” .
The head of the coalition pointed out that "local elections are no less important than parliamentary elections, as they are closest to the citizen," adding: "We are betting on the decision of the citizen to choose those who have the ability to change for the better, since we are accepted into a stage of construction and reconstruction."
He continued: "We in the Al-Azm Alliance supported the central government because we see it as committed to its government program, and we will also support local governments to achieve their programs to serve the citizens."
He stressed, "The coalition does not place red lines against any party that believes in the unity of Iraq, and that our relations with others are based on the country's interest," calling for "conscious participation in the local elections, because good choices will lead to better change in our regions."
He concluded by saying: "Let us make the provincial council elections a gateway to prosperity and reconstruction in our provinces that meet the aspirations of our voters for a better life."
