The Commission’s Investigations Department announced the thwarting of a tampering operation. To change the cost of a project in the Basra Gas Company amounting to nine hundred million US dollars, in addition to monitoring the waste of an amount of (15) billion dinars in the company.
The department reported that a team composed of the Basra Investigation Directorate moved to the Basra Gas Company and, after investigation and follow-up, was able to detect a change in the financial cost of the project to establish a plant (BNGL) by the American “Shell” and Japanese “Mitobishi” companies, to process the associated gas and operate some units. , indicating that no pump or compressor was operating in the project, which cost (900,076,000) million dollars, noting that it had thwarted efforts to issue orders; To change the total cost of the project by a percentage equal to twice the approved cost.
She added that the team was able, in a separate operation at the Basra Gas Company, to monitor materials valued at more than (15,000,000,000) fifteen billion dinars left in the sixth station of the West Qurna field, pointing out that the abandoned materials, numbering (15,778), are different materials left in the open since they were received. In 2015, it was not entered into storage; Which led to its damage and intentional damage to public funds.
She explained that the loans granted by one of the branches of Rafidain Bank in the governorate were inventoried by the directorate’s team, which pointed out a number of violations in the process of granting (938) loans, the total amounts of which amounted to (9,547,500,000) nine billion dinars, stressing that the bank carried out the audit process after granting the loans and not Before that, it was pointed out that there were loans that were paid in full but were not paid at all.
