    Economy News _ Baghdad
The Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced today, Monday, the approval of transferring the project to rehabilitate and develop the refined sulfur production line, which has been suspended since 2003 in the Mishraq field, to the Rafidi Iraq General Trading and Contracting Company.
She said in a statement received by Al-Eqtisad News that the decision was taken during the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Reconstruction and Investment, which was held yesterday, Sunday, headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and in the presence of Minister of Industry Khaled Battal.
She indicated that the project will achieve a production capacity estimated at one million and 500 thousand tons annually of refined sulfur, which constitutes a basic and important material for many industries, in addition to the project’s contribution to employing the workforce, providing job opportunities, and achieving financial gains.
The Ministry indicated that this project is one of the investment opportunities and projects that were presented and announced at the Mineral Investment Conference held in May of last year in light of the axes of the government curriculum, focusing on strategic industries and working to revive and develop them.
The Ministry's statement pointed out that the Supreme Committee for Reconstruction and Investment voted in its fourth meeting to refer the establishment of an integrated project for the production of refined sulfur in the Al-Lazaka field in Nineveh Governorate and the establishment of a urea factory at the Abu Al-Khasib site in Basra Governorate.
