Parliamentary Committee: Parliament will not obstruct the Federal Court Law

The Parliamentary Legal Committee classified the amendment to the Federal Court Law as “one of the laws that is not easy” and controversial, as it affects the most important aspects of the state. Committee member Muhammad Jassim told Al-Sabah: “The amendment to the law has not been received from the government yet, and the body concerned with the law, which is the Federal Court and the Judicial Council, must have an opinion and discussions within these corridors before voting on it within the Council of Ministers.” Jassim added, "The law will take up a large part of the agenda of Parliament and the Legal Committee, as they are concerned with considering and studying it," noting that "Parliament will proceed with its legislation as soon as it is received from the government." He pointed out that "there are many observations raised regarding the law," noting that "the court's tasks are explained in accordance with the constitution, and there is an expansion in some of the decisions it took, and we see their necessity to preserve the people's right and the prestige of the state." He stated that "the idea of amending the law was raised in the previous session, but it was not passed and some of its paragraphs were amended, including those related to the court's quorum and the number of its members."
