Iraq is ranked at the bottom of the depression rate, that is, among the least depressed countries according to the 2024 classification, despite the somewhat negative image of the nature of living in Iraq.

According to the World Health Data Exchange, about 251 to 310 million people worldwide suffer from this mental health condition, which is also known as major depressive disorder, and according to a new classification by SeaWorld magazine, the highest rates of depression are found in more industrialized regions and countries. While the least depressed countries are mostly located in the Pacific Islands.

Ukraine came at the forefront of countries suffering from severe depression, followed by the United States of America, and then Australia.

Iraq ranked 154th globally out of 178 countries, which means that only 24 countries are less depressed than Iraq. As for the Arab level, Iraq ranked 13th in the Arab world, after Qatar, Kuwait, Tunisia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Oman, Algeria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Jordan, Syria.
