    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, announced this evening, Thursday (February 8, 2024), that measures to end the presence of international coalition forces in Iraq will soon be accelerated.
Rasoul said in a televised statement followed by "Baghdad Today", that "the coming days will witness an acceleration of measures to end the presence of international coalition forces."
He pointed out that "there will be plans to conclude bilateral memorandums of understanding with several countries in the field of arming and training Iraqi forces," stressing that "many countries have expressed their desire to conclude such memorandums of understanding with Iraq."
Rasoul added, "The House of Representatives and the Iraqi political forces are called upon to support the Iraqi government in its efforts to end the coalition's tasks, and we are confident in their support for this government approach."
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi government is engaged in discussions with the American administration to end the presence of international coalition forces in Iraq.
Baghdad condemns the repeated American bombing in the country, the most recent of which was yesterday after a wheel was targeted by a drone in the Al-Mashtal area, east of the capital, Baghdad, which resulted in the assassination of 3 people, including the leader of the Hezbollah Brigades (Abu Baqir Al-Saadi).
The Security Media Cell said that American drones penetrated Iraqi airspace and targeted a vehicle carrying two leaders in the Popular Mobilization Forces in the Al-Mashtal area.
In a statement earlier today, the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, accused the American forces of threatening civil peace, violating Iraqi sovereignty, and risking people’s lives in an irresponsible manner, after they carried out a clear-cut assassination operation, by directing an air strike in the middle of a residential neighborhood in the capital, Baghdad. "In a way that does not care about the lives of civilians and international laws."
He stressed, "This path pushes the Iraqi government, more than ever before, to end the mission of this coalition, which has become a factor of instability for Iraq, and threatens to drag Iraq into the circle of conflict."
