British military delegation confirmed during a meeting with President Barham Salih on Tuesday that Britain is ready to contribute effectively to building the training and armament capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces.
In a presidential statement received by Mawazine News, Saleh received in Baghdad the senior adviser to the British Ministry of Defense for the Middle East, Sir John Lorimer, accompanied by Ambassador John Wilkes, noting that "the meeting reviewed the latest developments and developments on the Arab and international levels" .
Saleh stressed "the importance of upgrading bilateral relations between the two countries at various levels to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples," praising "the active role played by Britain in the international coalition to fight terrorism."
For his part, Lurimer renewed "the support of his government and people for the stability and prosperity of Iraq," expressing "its willingness to contribute effectively in strengthening and building the training and armament capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces."
