    Economy News _ Baghdad
The Ministry of Water Resources recorded an increase in the level of the tributaries of the Tigris River following the recent rain wave, which will contribute to increasing Iraq's water reserves and significantly improve its situation during the coming summer.
Minister Aoun Dhiyab Abdullah said, in an interview with Al-Sabah, followed by Al-Iqtisad News, that the water situation in the country has become good against the backdrop of the rain and snow that fell on the river basins in the country and Turkey, and thus will secure the country’s needs for drinking, human uses, and watering orchards and vegetables. During next summer.
He added that his ministry succeeded in securing complete water for the Shallab crop in the Middle Euphrates region, in addition to securing the third, fourth, and weaning irrigations for the wheat crop, making the water situation in areas dependent on rain-fed agriculture better than last year.
Abdullah continued that, as a result of the intense rainfall during the past days in the northern and eastern regions of the country, and the occurrence of torrential rains as a result, it contributed to raising the level of the tributaries of the Tigris River, which are the Upper Zab, the Great and Diyala, in addition to increasing the water reserves in the dams and reservoirs to benefit from them in reviving the central marshes and the Hawizeh. .
Regarding the Diyala River, he explained that it depends on the reservoirs of the Darbandikhan and Hamrin dams, especially after Diyala Governorate began planting vegetables and orchards during the last and current winter seasons, and yellow corn will also be planted next summer, revealing that the reservoirs of the Darbandikhan Dam have currently reached 500 million cubic meters, while Hamrin Dam storage increased by 200 m3 compared to 2023.
