The Parliamentary Health Committee indicated its delay in legislating the Health Professions Law due to its importance, and it requires discussions, meetings, and hosting for those concerned so that there is no unfairness to one party over another party.
Committee member, Thanaa Al-Zirjawi, said in an interview with Al-Sabah: “The health professions law needs more study and patience in its approval, especially since our children’s thoughts in studying are directed towards the health aspect due to the availability of appointments in it annually.”
She added that “the draft law needs more time in order to discuss it within the committee to come up with decisions that serve health staff and satisfy everyone,” noting that “the law includes all health fields, including doctors and nurses, due to the lack of their cadres, and because we need to reach international rates in it.” Al-Zirjawi stated that “among the category of doctors and nurses, we need to establish new basics that define their work without encroaching on one category over another while practicing the profession,” stressing that “the coming period will witness discussion of this law, after which efforts will be made to legislate it.”
