    Today, Tuesday (February 27, 2024), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed Iraq’s efforts to expand economic cooperation with Belgium.
    A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office received by “Baghdad Today” stated that Al-Sudani “received, today, Tuesday, the non-resident ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Iraq, Serge Dikchen, and the meeting witnessed discussion of relations between Iraq and Belgium, ways to strengthen them, expand the partnership between the two countries, and the necessity of continuing the momentum of consultations.” Bilateralism, in addition to the importance of having a resident ambassador of Belgium in Iraq.”
    Al-Sudani praised "Belgium's role in supporting Iraq in the field of combating terrorism through participation in the international coalition," noting "the level of readiness and capability reached by the Iraqi armed forces, the end of the coalition's mission in Iraq and the transition to bilateral relations with the participating countries."
    He stated, "Iraq seeks to expand economic cooperation with Belgium, especially in the fields of clean energy, infrastructure, and water technologies, in addition to cooperation in combating corruption and recovering Iraqi funds and those wanted by the Iraqi judiciary, and signing a legal memorandum of understanding in these areas."
    The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation for the position of the Belgian government in its cooperation in handing over its citizens from Al-Hawl camp, and urged the rest of the European countries to follow the same path.
