    Shafaq News/ The Statistics Authority of the Kurdistan Region announced, on Wednesday, that the inflation index rose by 7% in 2023 compared to 2022.
    The inflation index in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq increased by 7% in December 2023 compared to January 2024, from 116.33 points to 117.13 points. This has led to a significant increase in demand for needs.
    The statistics included the three governorates of the Kurdistan Region, including measures for "various services, education, culture, restaurants, communications, transportation, health, household goods, clothing and shoes, rent, water, electricity, fuel, alcoholic beverages and tobacco." With non-alcoholic drinks.
    December 2023 recorded the highest demand for alcohol and tobacco, while January 2024 recorded the highest demand for various goods at 8% in Erbil, 7% in Sulaymaniyah, and 7% in Dohuk.
