    Baghdad today - follow-up
Today, Monday (April 8, 2024), the head of the Arbaeen Visit Committee in the Iranian Ministry of Interior, Majeed Mirahamdi, revealed the details of the Iranian-Iraqi consultations to facilitate the presence of Iranian visitors in Iraq during the Arbaeen days.
The official Iranian IRNA news agency reported that the Deputy Minister of the Interior for Security Affairs, Majid Mirahmadi, said after the Central Committee meeting for the Arba’een visit in a press conference, that the Arba’een visit this year differs from previous years as we witness the persecution of the people of Gaza by the Zionist and child-killing regime.
Mirahmadi stressed, "We are ready to hold Hussein's Arba'een better than before through efforts, participation, and reliance on the people. Despite the problems and shortcomings, the people were more satisfied with the performance of the headquarters last year, and we are trying to correct the shortcomings."
Mirahmadi stated that the visitor registration process begins in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah this year, so that visitors have more time to make their travel decisions.
He stressed "the necessity of developing parking lots in the border areas and said: We expect about 5 million visitors to attend Arbaeen ceremonies in Iraq, so governors must take measures to expand the parking space."
He stated, "Due to the neglect of public transportation in recent years, we have a serious shortage in this area," adding, "We have made a preliminary agreement with the Iraqi Minister of Interior that Iraqi buses will enter Iran so that our visitors can board them and enter Iraqi territory."
Mir Ahmadi said, "We are waiting for the final agreement with the Iraqi government so that private cars can enter Iraq during the Arbaeen visit. He said: If a final agreement is reached in this regard, it will provide more ease for visitors' travel."
Referring to the completion of the railway bus project in Ahvaz, the Deputy Interior Minister said: “If credit can be secured and this is one of the priorities, we will see a fundamental shift from the Mehran passenger station to the border station, and stopping and walking will be eliminated this year.”
Regarding the latest developments in the Iranian-Iraqi agreements to facilitate the Arbaeen visit, he said: During this period of the agreement, the Iraqi side was supposed to announce its readiness for negotiations and how to implement them, so talks will be held on this issue early next month.
