On Monday, the Ministry of Transport clarified the mechanism, controls and standards for the work of private transport companies (taxis), indicating that the most prominent control is that the company owns a sufficient number of cars.
Ministry spokesman Maitham Abdel Safi said, in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Eqtisad News, that “the General Company for Private Transport Management grants licenses to private transport (taxi) companies, given that the internal regulations authorize the company to grant the license, in order to operate Taxis are within the private sector, as is the case with (Bly Company), (Careem Company) and the rest of the companies operating in Baghdad and the provinces.”
Abdul Safi added: “As for the standards, there are standards that were set by the company’s planning and follow-up department for the work of these companies that have a sufficient number of operating cars.”
He stressed that "these companies must adhere to the controls and instructions issued by the public company, and annual fees are imposed on them, with specific financial amounts being imposed, received by the financial department for the purpose of renewing the annual leave."
