    Minister of Commerce Athir Dawood Al-Ghariri and Qatari Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani signed the closing minutes of the seventh session of the Iraqi-Qatari Committee in the capital Baghdad, more than six years after the previous session.
    Al-Ghariri said in a speech during the signing, "Iraq and Qatar are keen to strengthen economic, trade and investment relations," noting that "investment between our two countries constitutes a fundamental axis of cooperation and we strive to create an attractive investment environment that enhances economic partnership and achieves common interests."
    He stated that "signing the draft agreement to encourage and protect investment between Iraq and Qatar is an important step towards enhancing mutual investments," calling on "the Qatari side to be the guest of honor at the upcoming Baghdad International Fair, while inviting Qatari companies and businessmen to invest in Iraq, especially in projects related to the development path, as these partnerships will contribute to enhancing cooperation between our two countries and open new horizons for economic development."
    For his part, Al Thani stressed that "the seventh session of the joint committee between our two countries reflects our common keenness to enhance cooperation in a way that achieves mutual benefits and fulfills our aspirations for development," stressing "intensifying joint efforts to achieve the full potential of the partnership, and we look forward to achieving more bilateral trade relations and promising economic partnerships at various levels, completing the protection of mutual registration, enhancing inter-trade, and activating the Qatari-Iraqi Business Council for its importance in investment and trade."
    It is noteworthy that the two sides, over the two days of the seventh session of the committee, held an intensive exchange of views on ways to enhance and intensify the second cooperation included in the joint minutes, in the fields of trade, industry, investment, free zones, the private sector, energy, finance, taxation, customs, transportation, civil aviation, communications, information technology, construction, housing, public municipalities, infrastructure, agriculture, water resources, Baghdad Municipality, education, scientific research, health, environment, culture, sports, youth, social care, and justice.
