    Kurdistan Democratic Party member Wafaa Muhammad Karim revealed today, Saturday (July 13, 2024), that the salaries of the Peshmerga and Asayish forces will soon be released, indicating that the work of the audit committee of the Financial Supervision Bureau is still ongoing.
    Karim said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The audit committee from the Financial Supervision Bureau that visited Erbil did not find any major violations in the lists of security forces," noting that "it is continuing its work, and there are no violations regarding the presence of aliens or unreal numbers for the numbers of security forces from the Peshmerga and Asayish."
    He added that "the problem of delayed salaries of the security services is supposed to be over," indicating that "immediately after the end of the audit committee's visit, the salaries of the security forces for the months of May and June will be released, most likely within the next two days, and after that the salaries of the civilian employees will be released normally."
    The Minister of Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Shorsh Ismail, had previously explained that the issue of delayed salaries would be resolved in the coming days after a visit by a committee to audit the central payroll.
    Earlier, an informed government source revealed to Baghdad Today that "the number of Peshmerga forces is 114,749 individuals," indicating that "the number of the regional security council (Asayish) is 8,682 individuals, while the Asayish forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union are 33,832 individuals."
    He stressed that "the number of personnel in the Ministry of Interior in the Kurdistan Regional Government from the local police and other formations is 149,748 individuals."
