    The Ministry of Interior announced today, Tuesday, the total of its activities in combating organized crime and criminal offenses during 6 months, confirming the arrest of 10,783 suspects and the issuance of 140 death sentences and 500 life sentences against convicts and drug dealers, while announcing that it had obtained "first place in two international competitions."
    The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, said in a press conference: "Organized crime is the most dangerous and important type of crime by which the security situation is measured," indicating that "the Baghdad International Conference on Combating Drugs achieved positive results and exchanged and cooperated with international and regional information related to organized crime."[/size]
    [size=45]The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, explained the activities of the Ministry of Interior in the field of organized crime:[/size]
    [size=45]1- Issuing 140 death sentences and 500 life sentences against drug dealers for the period from 1/1/2023 to 6/8/2024[/size]
    [size=45]2- Arresting 96 people accused of counterfeiting local and foreign currency, deeds, medical certificates, official and real estate documents, and traffic plates.[/size]

    [size=45]4- Arresting 13 suspects in the tribal assault[/size]
    [size=45]5- Arresting 150 people accused of trading in antiquities, coins, precious stones and manuscripts.[/size]

    [size=45]7- Arresting 150 suspects for possessing unlicensed weapons.[/size]

    [size=45]Brigadier Muqdad Miri said that “during the same period last year, 8,000 activities were carried out, corresponding to the arrest of 8,167 suspects. However, during the current year, for the first six months, 9,928 activities were carried out, during which 10,783 suspects were arrested.” He pointed out that “this is an indicator of an increase in organized crime activities by 22%, which is considered a major achievement in combating the most dangerous crimes known in the context of organized crime.”[/size]
    [size=45]As for the results and achievements made in the field of combating organized crime[/size]
    [size=45]1- Implementation of 181 activities, 57 of which were transnational.[/size]
    [size=45]2- Implementing 638 activities in the field of currency counterfeiting crimes.[/size]
    [size=45]The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior stated that “Iraq, represented by the Ministry of Interior’s Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, won the first place award for (Combating the Crime of Trafficking in Persons and Human Organs) in the United States of America under the auspices of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior.”[/size]
    [size=45]He added, "Iraq, represented by the Ministry of Interior - Directorate of Combating Organized Crime - received thanks and praise from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) during its participation in the sixth phase of Operation Finga regarding the elimination of drug smuggling crimes, and the Republic of Iraq is considered one of the countries that is highly committed to the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force and received the praise of this organization."[/size]
    [size=45]He added, “The Ministry of Interior contributed to the Republic of Iraq joining the Agemot Group in a global network that works on arranging, communicating and interacting between financial investigation units. There was praise for the State of Iraq for its performance and the Republic of Iraq joining this group.”[/size]
    [size=45]He added, “The Republic of Iraq obtained the first rank in terms of the international classification by the Interpol Criminal Police during its participation in the international Flash WIKA operation in order to enhance the field of combating human trafficking crimes.[/size]
