The Ministry of Oil announced, on Saturday, the near completion of a project that converts black oil and oil waste into high-quality white derivatives, while noting that the production of fuel in the south of the country has increased to 1.3 million barrels.
"The refining sector has witnessed significant development during the past period, in addition to the development of production operations," Oil Ministry spokesman Asim Jihad said in a statement reported by the official news agency and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News." He pointed out that "this development was reflected in the provision of petroleum derivatives for local consumption."
He added that "the Southern Refineries Company has achieved significant production rates, by adding 1.3 million barrels of fuel through the isomerization unit that was recently opened," indicating that "the work of the isomerization units focuses on improving the quality of gasoline and giving it high quality and efficiency." He
pointed out that "the production of the Southern Refinery has increased to a refining capacity of 280,000 barrels per day, after the opening of its fourth unit with a capacity of 70,000 barrels."
He explained that "the ministry has the FCC project, which has reached 85% completion and will be opened in the coming period with a production capacity of up to 55,000 barrels per day," noting that "the project will convert black oil or oil waste into high-quality white derivatives."
He stressed that "the oil sector is witnessing great and direct interest from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani."
