The Ministry of Construction and Housing is close to completing its lending plan for the Housing Fund for the current year 2024, after disbursing loans to 14,000 out of 17,000 beneficiaries.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Nabil Al-Saffar, explained in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Eqtisad News”, that the fund’s plan for the current year included disbursing 900 billion dinars among 17 thousand beneficiaries who applied for the fund’s loans, noting that 14 thousand beneficiaries were lent during the past months, and only 3 thousand beneficiaries remain who will be granted loans successively, and thus the fund has completed its plan for the current year.
He pointed out that the resumption of issuing loans is dependent on the financial returns that come from citizens, in exchange for the loans they received, stressing that the electronic payment process contributed to the ease and speed of recovering the amounts, warning at the same time that the fund has not yet set a date for issuing its next loans.
Al-Saffar stated that the Central Bank gave the Fund a period of 5 years to pay the amounts it owed under the initiative it launched earlier, to support it with an amount of 1 trillion and 250 billion dinars, which enabled it at the time to lend to a large number of citizens.
