    Al-Maalouma/ Anbar..
The Sovereignty Alliance responded on Tuesday to the Progress Party by insisting on nominating Al-Issawi for the position of Speaker of Parliament, and there has been no change in the alliance’s position, denying the news that Al-Khanjar has abandoned his candidate.
The leader in the Sovereignty Alliance, Ahmed Al-Dulaimi, said in a statement to / Al-Maalouma / agency, that “the Sovereignty Alliance is still insisting on its candidate, Salem Al-Issawi, to fill the position of Speaker of Parliament, and there has been no change in that.”
Al-Dulaimi added that “opening the door for nominations and amending paragraph 12 is out of the question due to the existence of a decision by the Federal Court that stipulates that no amendments may be made regarding the nomination of other figures, and the competition has been limited to the candidates Salem Al-Issawi, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, and Talal Al-Zubaie.”
He explained that “the story that spoke of the existence of political understandings to pass a consensus figure, provided that he is from outside Anbar, in line with Halbousi’s desires, has not yet been settled due to the existence of a decision by the Federal Court not to open the door for nominations for other figures, which puts Halbousi in a difficult position and keeps the competition limited to Al-Issawi and Al-Mashhadani in the presidential race.”
He pointed out that "all proposals are subject to a constitutional issue and the constitution cannot be violated in any way to achieve Halbousi's desires." End / 12A
