    The Federal Integrity Commission announced, today, Sunday (September 1, 2024), the detection of violations in the implementation of an investment project at a cost of (11,000,000) million dollars, and procrastination in implementing projects by the local administration in Karbala Governorate.
    The commission stated in a statement received by Baghdad Today that "the investigations of the Karbala Investigation Office team concluded that the Karbala Investment Commission did not take legal action against the authorized director of the meat production and marketing company who was granted an investment license to establish a model slaughterhouse at a cost of (11,000,000) eleven million dollars," indicating that "the investor raised the slaughtering platforms and cancelled the automatic devices in the sheep and cow slaughtering lines."
    She added that "among the violations were operating part of the liquid waste treatment system without neutralizing it acidically, and not operating the fat separation device. He also violated the terms of the contract for establishing a cutting and packaging plant, building refrigerated warehouses, feed warehouses, and materials produced by the protein factory, and setting the price," noting that "the investor did not pay the amounts owed to the Municipality Directorate."
    The office revealed "delays in a number of projects implemented by the local administration - the Projects Department implemented within the contracts of regional development projects amounting to (2,571,975,000) two billion dinars and referred to a private contracting company against which no legal action has been taken," noting that "the delayed projects included the construction of a square for pilgrims and visitors, the completion rate of which was (zero%), and the paving of the streets of the Republic and the intersections of the Teachers' and Safina neighborhoods and the Fatima Al-Zahraa Bridge Street (peace be upon her), the completion rate of which reached (33%)."
    She explained that "the local administration in the governorate was monitored for exceeding its powers, and proceeding with direct contracting to refer a number of projects, in violation of the instructions for implementing the Emergency Support Law for Food Security and Development No. (2 of 2022), in addition to the Contracts Department in the governorate limiting the referral to only five companies throughout the period from (2020 - 2023), in a clear and explicit violation of the instructions for implementing government contracts."
