The General Directorate of Energy Police at the Ministry of Interior announced, on Wednesday, statistics on arrests and seizures of quantities prepared for smuggling for the month of August, while confirming a 98% decrease in smuggling and oil pipeline violations.
The Director General of the Energy Police, Major General Dhafer Nazmi Al-Hussaini, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and viewed by "Al-Eqtisad News" (INA): "Within the activities of the Energy Police for the month of August 2024, 73 vehicles and tankers were seized, and 6 garages and smuggling locations were seized," noting that "98 people were arrested in violation of the law and they were all referred to the judicial authorities."
Al-Hussaini explained that "the smuggling of 236 oil product tankers and 2,175,660 liters was also prevented within the activities of the Energy Police Directorate for the month of August 2024."
