US joint military exercises in response to North Korea's missile test
WASHINGTON, Aug 19 (AFP) - About 17,500 US troops will participate in UFG exercises with units from Australia, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Britain, the Pentagon said Saturday.
"The UFG exercises are computer simulation exercises designed to enhance preparedness and protection of the region and maintain stability on the Korean Peninsula," she said, adding that "the announcement of the maneuver comes after North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile" .
