    MP on the coalition of Iraqi forces, Muhammad al-Abed Rabbo, on Saturday, that political differences prevented the legislation of the law of dual nationality, despite being put on the table of the House of Representatives, calling all deputies and political blocs to waive the acquired nationality. 

    Abed Rabbo said in a press statement that 'the law of dual nationality was put in the House of Representatives, but political differences prevented the legislation', pointing out that 'the majority of politicians have dual nationality so they are not willing to sacrifice the acquired nationality'.
     
    "We will have a role in bringing up the subject and collecting signatures in order to present the law within the parliament for its legislation," he said, adding that "we have called for the law of the House of Representatives to include in one of its paragraphs the non-eligibility of a foreign nationality to nominate the House of Representatives." 
    Al-Abed Rabbo called on all MPs and blocs who wish to participate in the political arena to give up their acquired nationality regardless of their positions and to take pride in the Iraqi nationality.
