The parliamentary wisdom bloc on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of the Iraqi army demanded the arming of the military and security branches of the best types of weapons and increasing attention to them.
"A tribute to the brave Iraqi army on the occasion of its 97th founding anniversary, and it achieves victories after victories against the enemies of this country and its sons," a statement from the bloc said.
"Iraq and its people have the right to be proud of you, the victory makers and the armor of Iraq, the hippocampus, where the experiences and challenges proved that you are one of the strongest armies in the region, and the most dangerous terrorist gangs threatened the whole world and defeated them with all courage and sputality."
The statement added: "While we congratulate the religious authority, the fatwa of the victory, the honorable Iraqi people and the honorable government, we call for increased attention to all military and security fields and to continue to support them, further develop them and arm them with the best weapons to deter anyone who wishes to tamper with the security of the homeland and the citizen."
"We also demand the government to distribute plots of land for the sons of the armed forces or to build housing units for them, especially the families of the martyrs and the wounded, as a gift for their achievements and the stability of their families in decent housing.
The statement addressed the sons of the army by saying, "Once again we appeal to you and bless you for your proud day, and the peace of the sacrifices of our martyrs, the speedy recovery of our wounds, and every year our armed forces from victory to victory and our country with pride and dignity."
