    The parliamentary legal committee on Thursday announced instructions to be issued soon by the judiciary on amending the general amnesty law, while noting that the instructions include not taking the upper limit of penalties for misdemeanors punishable by 5 years or more. 

    "We have discussed with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council the matters related to some laws and their implementation, including the recent amendment to the law of general amnesty," said the head of the committee MP Muhsen al-Saadoun in a joint press conference with the members of the committee and attended by Alsumaria News. "There are forms in the work of the implementing committees for the amendment of the term Scheduled for the pardon in 2008 ".




    "The president of the Judicial Council informed us that there are instructions to be issued soon to clarify the matter, including not to take the maximum limit of penalties in the offenses of 5 years and more," adding that "we discussed the subject of Peshmerga fighters arrested in Hawija in Daash, 37 fighters, The president of the Judicial Council not to issue any decision against the Peshmerga fighters and if there is material evidence to their families should be submitted to the judiciary. 

    "The amnesty law issued in 2008 did not include any other ruling on cases, offenses and waivers for two years. The committee was informed of files and cases that were not resolved by the judiciary," said Salim Shawqi, a member of the committee. "The priority is to include amnesty because it did not issue verdicts. The head of the Judicial Council for that matter and told us that he would issue these things with specific instructions. "

    Shawki said that "there is a request from the Kurdish deputies in the Commission to approach the Judicial Council of the province of the Federal Supreme Judicial Council to integrate the work and coordination in files relating to crimes committed in the federal government and in the region, as well as legislation of the laws of the judiciary and the prosecution and judicial supervision and the Court of discrimination," pointing to That "through the application of difficulties have been clarified, and was agreed with the Supreme Judicial Council to address these obstacles in the future." 

    On November 2, 2017, the Presidency of the Republic announced that President Fuad Masoum had ratified the First Amendment Law to the General Amnesty Law. This came after the House voted on 21 August 2017 on the draft.
