    Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati called on the resistance front to prevent the deployment of US forces east of the Euphrates, pointing out that the role of reference and religious culture will prevent the expansion of the US presence in Iraq.
    "The resistance front must prevent the gradual deployment of Americans to the east of the Euphrates," Velayati said during a meeting with Iraqi First Vice President Nuri al-Maliki in Baghdad. He also called for preventing NATO from establishing a base in western Asia.
    He added: "After the victory of the resistance front on the urging, we must be more vigilant compared to the past in monitoring the situation of the region."
    For his part, Maliki supported my mandate, stressing the need to make efforts to prevent the deployment of US forces east of the Euphrates. He said: "The establishment of new US military bases in Syria will ignite a new wave of terrorism and strengthen the takfiri currents aimed at weakening the resistance front,
    Maliki warned of Washington's efforts to "have a new foothold in Iraq," stressing that Iraq "thanks to the religious authority and rich Islamic culture, not like Japan and South Korea will not allow the presence of American military."
